Blues 2-0 York University (25-9, 25-14)
The earlier matches had shown York to be the weakest link in group B, and coach White took the opportunity to rest Andy Lynn in readiness for the next day. The side were not weakened by his absence, however, as Ken Kato continued his demonstration of some of the hardest attacks imaginable. York's 6-2 formation could find no way past the Cambridge block, which racked up eleven stuffs in the game. The Blues were coasting from early on, and Anthony Reynolds, Soren Koeppe, John Lin and Quentin Ramasse all saw court time. Koeppe started with surely one of the most insipid attacks ever seen at any level, and his luck certainly looked to be out when a big hammer was returned to the Cambridge side via the foot and ankle of two York defenders. Lin, however, was immense from the right side and added a block for good measure as the match was won 25-9, 25-14.
