Blues 0-2 Loughborough University (15-25, 14-25)
Leeds Uni, 14/02/2004
Knowing that they had to win this match to have a chance of progressing into the top half of the competition on day two the Blues started with their strongest rotation. However the Cambridge serve didn?t really trouble the Loughborough receive, and facing a strong serving team the Cambridge receive unit looked shaky. Passes that were making their way to Joyce or Mary were not being placed ideally for the Cambridge attackers, and hence were easily picked up by the Loughborough team. With one strong attacker able to hit well above the Cambridge block, the Blues always looked like they were struggling in this match. Set two progressed the way of set one, with Cambridge making few points, mainly relying on Loughborough errors. Dani and Wendy began to make headway with serve pressure towards the end of the match, but too late to save the game.
